GreenWorks: Providing Texas’ Most Thorough
Home And Commercial Mold Inspections

GreenWorks Inspections services all of Texas. Our commercial and home mold inspection starts with a full visual evaluation of the property. The inspector will search for any visible mold growth and for conditions conducive for the growth of mold. Conducive conditions for mold growth include but are not limited to areas where water has penetrated the walls, floors or ceilings and places where there is excessive moisture build-up, lack of ventilation, and high humidity levels. The inspector will conduct both a plumbing and infrared inspection in order to detect any hidden leaks within the walls, ceilings or floors.

Mold is a part of the natural environment and is present almost everywhere around us. Molds can slowly destroy the things they grow on. Outdoors, mold breaks down leaves, dead trees and other organic matter. The mold may start to populate indoors on wet or damp surfaces, including building materials and air conditioning units.

How Texas-Based GreenWorks

Conducts Mold Testing

Mold testing can help identify a mold infestation in your home or business. Mold inspection costs can vary based on the type and the number of samples you request. If you already own a home and have an unexplained mold-related illness or can smell mold in your house, mold inspection costs may be a good investment. To avoid unscrupulous inspectors, the EPA recommends working with a Texas-based testing agency, like GreenWorks, that follows the analytical methods laid out by professional organizations.

How Much Are Mold Inspections?

Mold inspection costs can vary based on the type of testing done. Prices can also vary, depending on the size of the home, the number of surface areas to be tested and extent of the mold infestation. Here are some examples of mold inspection and where costs may be accrued:

Surface Sampling – GreenWorks will collect a surface swab from a potentially infested area for testing in a lab. However, you may have concerns about this being the only test performed because it gathers a small amount of data from one area of the home.

Air Cell Testing – A professionally licensed mold inspector from GreenWorks will collect air samples from your house to measure the number of mold spores in the air. The cost of this test is slightly higher due to the more advanced equipment required.

Results of mold testing can take up to 24-48 Business hours (Labs are closed Saturdays and Sundays)

What Is Included In A Mold Inspection?

GreenWorks mold inspector’s initial mold assessment will include four total samples (more samples can be taken upon request). Depending on observations made during the visual evaluation, the inspector will determine the type of samples to be collected. Options available are air and surface sampling. Surface types include swabs, tape or bulk samples.

THE PURPOSE OF A MOLD ASSESSMENT IS TO:

  • Determine IF mold is present within the property
  • Determine WHAT TYPES of molds are present within the property (visible or in the air)
  • Determine how much mold is present
  • Determine if that mold is harmful or not

What Happens After A Mold Inspection?

ONCE THE SAMPLES ARE COLLECTED, THEY ARE TAKEN TO A QUALIFIED LABORATORY FOR TESTING. THE TURNAROUND TIME FOR THE MOLD LAB IS TYPICALLY 3 BUSINESS DAYS.

After the lab test results are received, the GreenWorks client will get a list of all mold types found within the samples. A list of conducive conditions and any recommendations will also be included. If the client chooses to attend the inspection, a verbal summary of concerns will be communicated at the completion of the assessment. If the client chooses to wait for the results, GreenWorks inspectors are available for consultation via phone or email.

A Few Mold Prevention Tips

Molds have been around for millions of years. Mold grows anywhere there is moisture. Long periods of exposure to moldy environments may cause a variety of health problems. Some types of molds can cause throat irritation, nasal stuffiness, coughing or wheezing, even eye irritation.

GreenWorks is one of the largest Texas-based inspection companies that has reviewed data from the Institute of Medicine (IOM), the World Health Organization (WHO), and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Each of these entities has researched and published findings linking mold (a toxic substance) to different illnesses and adverse health conditions. The IOM has also discovered limited but suggestive evidence linking indoor mold exposure and respiratory illness in otherwise healthy individuals.

How Do I Keep Mold Out Of My Home?

Many people ask what causes mold to grow in homes. Although it is impossible to entirely remove every mold spore from your house, you can take measures to prevent mold from growing. The key is controlling moisture. Leaky pipes are the number one cause form mold in Texas homes. Before buying a home in Texas, you should have a complete mold inspection. A plumber can fix a relatively small water leak before it turns into a substantial mold problem. However, plumbers are not trained to spot the signs of hidden molds issues. GreenWorks mold inspectors have the experience necessary for the expert mold identification.
